Winter Blues Sale
The Winter Blues Sale takes place on the first Friday – Saturday in January. This is a great time to snag all those items on your Christmas list that didn’t make it under the tree. In-store deals and events will vary with each participating merchant. Check with your favorite local merchants to see what exciting offers are up for grabs to start your year off in style!
Main Street Mixer
Twice annually we host our Main Street Mixer as a way to bring Main Street volunteers and supporters together, and also to reach out to potential new supporters and volunteers. This networking event takes place from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and is hosted in various downtown locations.
Ladies Weekends
We host Ladies Weekends twice each year in downtown Ponca City at participating merchant locations. The spring Ladies Weekend is held annually on the first Friday/Saturday in March and the fall event is held on the first Friday/Saturday in November. The events last from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. and are a great opportunity to plan a night out with your girlfriends in downtown Ponca City. Merchants all over the district plan amazing things for their customers. Many do trunk shows, gifts with purchase, special sales and a variety of other unique offerings just for our local ladies. Each merchant offers a sip and a snack in their store. Many partner with local caterers and restaurants to showcase delicious bites from some of our best local eateries. Main Street provides some sort of transportation as well during these events for those who don’t want to walk from shop to shop.
Crazy Days Street Party & Sales
The Crazy Days Street Party is a free community event hosted by Ponca City Main Street in July. The Party happens at the Vet Plaza in downtown Ponca City, at 4th & Grand from 5:00 - 9:30 p.m. and includes food trucks, live music and various other activities. The Party on Friday night coincides with Crazy Days Sales in downtown Ponca City that start on Thursday and run through Saturday, with many stores extending their business hours during these three days. Visit merchant locations to see each store’s specials and sales during Crazy Days.
BrewFest
Join us in downtown Ponca City for BrewFest in September, 2021. The event will be held on a Saturday (TBD) and take place from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tickets will be sold online and at the door for this event which will include a BrewFest tote bag and mug, $5 food truck voucher, lawn games, and entrance into the event featuring craft brews from all over the state! The event will be held on Central Avenue, near the City Central building between 5th & 4th Streets. In 2019 we hosted 17 craft brewers. Our goal is to at least double that number for our 2020 event! Craft brew festivals are truly one-of-a-kind events! Craft brewers constantly tweak and modify their recipes, always seeking improvement. This means that each of these events offers an entirely unique selection of beers to sample. Never again will the same collection be available for your tasting pleasure! This event is also a fundraiser for Ponca City Main Street. Money raised during BrewFest help fund the many events and projects are program does each year.
Annual Banquet
Each year Main Street hosts our award banquet to recognize and honor those businesses and individuals who have made a positive and lasting impact on our community through their work within our downtown district.
Goblins on Grand
Each year Ponca City Main Street hosts Goblins on Grand, our community Halloween carnival, in downtown Ponca City. Main Street organizes this event which takes place on the grounds of City Hall and in the adjoining street area from 6th – 3rd Streets. This year the carnival will be held on Thursday, October 22, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., with a rain date of Thursday, October 29. For this event, we partner with local businesses, clubs and organizations within our community to provide a fun and safe trick-or-treating environment. The carnival features tons of games, a glow booth, a witch dance, food trucks and more! The Ponca City Noon Lions host children’s vision screenings in their screening trailer each year and line up on Grand with the rest of the booths. Wristbands which serve as entry tickets are $2 per participating child, regardless of age. All bands will include a trick-or-treat bag for candy and prizes. If you purchase your band in advance, you will receive your trick-or-treat bag the night of the event. You can also bring your own trick-or-treat bucket or bag if you choose. The $2 wristband price helps us pay for items like event insurance, advertising, bags, candy, off-duty police officers, and other event expenses.
Small Business Saturday
Small Business Saturday is a national holiday celebrating America’s small businesses, started by American Express in 2010. It happens on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, the day after Black Friday, which is usually the fourth Saturday of November. This event is hosted by American Express and celebrated by communities nationwide. The event is geared toward encouraging folks to shop small and shop local during the holiday season. When small businesses thrive, our communities thrive. Small businesses donate 250% more than larger businesses to non-profits and community causes (Source: Seattle Good Business Network). If you spend $100 at a local business, roughly $68 stays in your local economy. If you spend the same are a large business, only $43 stays in the local economy. (Source: Civic Economics Study in Grand Rapids, Michigan). Ponca City Main Street partners with American Express each year to encourage shopping small in downtown Ponca City.
Christmas Open House Weekend
The annual Christmas Open House Weekend gets kicked off each year on the first Friday in December with the Lighted Parade hosted by the City of Ponca City and Parks & Recreation. The Lighted Parade kicks off at 6:00 p.m. and features incredible light displays from local businesses, clubs and organizations. Merchant open houses start Friday and go through the weekend, times and specials vary from location to location. Check with your favorite local merchants and plan to visit them for your holiday shopping this year!
