The Executive Director is tasked with executing the mission of Ponca City Main Street and implementing strategies in alignment with the Oklahoma & National Main Street programs to:
- Advance a positive image of downtown and promote it as an exciting place to shop, live, work, and invest
- Sustain and improve the appearance of downtown
- Enhance the economic vitality of the entire historic central business district
- Host activities that will benefit downtown businesses, residents & tourists
- Unify retail and service businesses with a reputation for hospitality, team work, and friendly customer service
Tasks
- Oversee all day-to-day operations for the program while achieving the strategic goals for Downtown Ponca City and maintaining the requirements of the Oklahoma Main Street Center & Main Street America
- Steer the visioning and action planning process alongside the Board of Directors and committees, including Promotion, Design, Economic Vitality, and Organization, and own the implementation of all plans
- Develop annual budget, manage revenue and expenditures, and report monthly on finances to the Board
- Hire, coach, and lead staff by providing daily guidance on assigned tasks
- Serve as the liaison with the City of Ponca City on annual contract compliance, zoning, codes, historic preservation, signage, façade grants, landscaping, infrastructure maintenance, and community events
- Actively engage political and community leaders, business owners, board members, volunteers, and partners in strategic collaborations
- Official spokesperson for Downtown Ponca City at speaking engagements, appearances, and media interviews, which keep the historic district highly visible and well respected
- Create and execute a comprehensive marketing plan that positively promotes Downtown Ponca City to local residents and tourists through web presence, paid advertising, and external communications
- Plan and market cross promotions with joint involvement from downtown businesses
- Plan and coordinate 10-15 Ponca City Main Street events each year
- Lead and design placemaking projects
- Strengthen downtown economic development through available real estate listings, recruiting retail that fits our desired business mix, and retaining existing small businesses
- Provide small business coaching to business and property owners, including marketing, visual merchandising, website design, and curb appeal
- Nominate local small businesses for state and national awards to recognize their success
- Expand revenue generating and fundraising activities, ranging from grants to the annual letter campaign
- Grow large fundraising events such as BrewFest
- Recruit volunteers and maintain a database of opportunities to enlist a variety of talents in our community
- Ex-Officio appointment on the Ponca City Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors

Job Opening: Ponca City Main Street Assistant Director (part-time)
Ponca City Main Street is looking for a part time Assistant Director to join our team in our City Central location. This person will work to support the daily operations of the program.
The ideal candidate is a high-energy individual with excellent organizational skills, a strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal communications.

Responsibilities:
- Field inbound communications - Answer phone calls/general email inquiries and route to the appropriate internal parties as needed.
- Coordinate scheduling - Set up meetings based on cross-functional availability for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Organize internal resources - Build out and maintain processes to keep files and office supplies organized and easily accessible.
- Liaise with visitors - Act as point person for office guests.
- Communicate policies and procedures - Alert employees of new processes, rules and regulations.
- Facilitate executive-level operations - Book travel, submit expense reports and send communications for high-level staff as needed.
- Manage social media –Post relevant content to social media accounts.
- Basic bookkeeping & accounting – liaise with accountant, pay bills, keep financial information filed & in order.
- Attend / work Main Street events as needed.
Requirements:
- High school diploma
- 1-2 years experience in administrative role preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Positive, high-energy attitude
- Resourcefulness, creativity, and problem-solving skill set
- Familiarity with office equipment (i.e. printers, fax machines, projectors)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
