Adopt-an-Alley Program
Keeping downtown Ponca City clean, safe, and welcoming is a top priority for Ponca City Main Street. The Adopt-an-Alley Program was developed by our Design Committee as a proactive initiative to enhance the appearance, accessibility, and overall experience of our downtown district.
Our alleys are more than just service corridors. They are active pathways for visitors exploring public art installations and accessing local businesses, many of which feature rear entrances. With this in mind, the Adopt-an-Alley Program plays an important role in supporting both the beautification and safety of these highly traveled spaces.
Through this initiative, participating businesses and organizations adopt a designated alley and commit to maintaining it on a quarterly basis. Responsibilities include removing trash, debris, weeds, and other unwanted materials to ensure the space remains clean and inviting. To support our partners, Ponca City Main Street provides safety vests, trash bags, and water for each cleanup effort.
This project directly supports our Transformation Strategies of Placemaking and Business Recruitment and Retention by creating a more attractive, functional environment that enhances the visitor experience and supports the success of our downtown businesses.
The program officially launched in October 2025 with seven designated alleys. Due to strong community interest and enthusiasm, four additional alleys were added in March 2026, allowing even more businesses and organizations to get involved.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the dedicated partners who contribute their time and effort to this program. Their commitment helps ensure that downtown Ponca City remains a vibrant, welcoming place for residents and visitors year-round.
